Studio Visit with Sculptor Gary Mellon

Last week I visited artist Gary Mellon in his Brooklyn studio. He makes these phenomenal, hand-carved figurative sculptures out of wood. Each figure stands on an richly constructed, hand-painted base, adding to their wonderfully imposing scale. The hair detail alone on these works will blow your mind apart. When I stopped by, Gary was working on #4, the latest piece in his current series.
